Its funny how much of what I make is influenced by my childhood! I love everything about bees, from their fuzzy coats to their amazing ability to make honeycombs - I have found this to be quite hard to re-create in my work. My fascination began with my favourite book as a child which explained their life cycle and had plenty of pictures. As I grew up and other interests came along, I forgot about the lives of bees but I never lost my sense of joy when seeing them visit the flowers in my garden. When I was trying to think of a company name, my mind kept going back to bees. Bee Happy seemed like the natural choice. I even named my studio ‘The Hive’.
